Jiangyin Port Manufactured Sand Project

Challenge

The project owner operates a large-scale manufactured sand production facility at Jiangyin Port. The products are primarily used as manufactured sand aggregates for concrete production, supporting regional infrastructure development.

Due to the adoption of a wet sand production process, the finished sand has a high moisture content. During screening, the screen media operate in a high-moisture environment, requiring frequent screen replacements and experiencing mild screen blinding issues. In addition, under high-throughput continuous operation, chutes and water troughs suffer from severe wear, leading to frequent maintenance and increased operating costs.

Case Solution

01

Screen Media

The original metal screen media were replaced with Springpoly polyurethane hot-melt screen panels, used in combination with polyurethane anti-blinding balls. Driven by screen vibration, the anti-blinding balls bounce continuously to dislodge material trapped in the apertures, effectively reducing mild screen blinding and wear.

This solution significantly extended screen service life while maintaining high screening efficiency. In addition, the lighter weight of the polyurethane screen panels reduced screen load and lowered power consumption.

Chute and Water Trough Wear Issues

Springpoly polyurethane wear liners were installed at key material contact points to effectively reduce equipment wear. Springpoly’s technical personnel conducted on-site measurements to ensure the liners were precisely designed and fitted to the equipment. Based on operational results, the protected areas are conservatively expected to require no additional maintenance for at least two years, significantly reducing downtime and maintenance frequency.

Results

  • Screening efficiency increased by approximately 20%
  • Screen media service life extended by approximately 50%
  • Wear liner service life significantly improved
  • Screen blinding reduced by approximately 50%
